he question is why in the context of price, Apple would stay away from CDMA Phone for Verizon.
If Apple releases the iPhone for Verizon, it would most probably have to match the price with the iPhone on AT&T. The components which builds the GSM based iPhone are cheaper than the components to be used to develop CDMA based iPhone. If Apple would release the iPhone for Verizon and keeps the same price then it would give Apple some lost in its revenue.
