I’ve been looking at connected photo frames for a while now. Until recently they have been been too closed and lacking in features. The Flickr connection allows you to authenticate with your Flickr account. Even though you need to authenticate there is no way to choose what pictures to show. Only your public pictures will show on the frame. I chose not to authenticate with Flickr as the authentication was requesting delete access. There’s no need for that and I consider it a risk, so I chose to not authenticate. You’d be better off just choosing one of the RSS feeds from Flickr and using those as it will get you the same result without needing to authenticate and giving the frame delete access. You can get creative with the Flickr RSS feeds as well and use tags to designate which photos should show up on the frame. What I did is create a unique tag for the frame and pull the RSS feed for the photos with that tag. To do this, navigate to the Flickr page for the tag you want to use and grab the RSS feed link from the bottom of the page.
Flickr videos are not supported at this time.
Facebook
Authenticating with Facebook was pretty easy. Clicking on a link and giving the app access. The frame then quickly pulled down all of the photos I had uploaded to Facebook. Would really like the ability to grab photos friends have uploaded too.
Picasa
You have the option of signing into any Google account to authenticate with Picasa. Good if you already have an account set up and don’t want to move things to the Google account you are using for the photo frames email address. From there the photo frame pulls your latest photos. Again, with this service, I’d like some ability to designate which photos to download.
Google Calender?
That’s right, there’s also Google Calendar integration. You can authenticate to any Google Calendar and have your daily calendar shown on the screen. Did we mention this frame was connected?
Twitter Is Everywhere
Yep, now you can read and sent tweets from a photo frame. I’m not sure, can you even use Twitter from a computer anymore?
How About The Screen
The screen on this photo frame is a pretty decent 10.1 inches. The resolution isn’t that fantastic at 800.

Bookending the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G unboxing from earlier today is the other classic staple of geekdom: the tear-down. As usual iFixit did the deed, and here’s what they uncovered:

• There are actually FIVE antennas in this iPad. Two antennas handle the cell reception — one is in the RF window on top, the other attaches to the LCD frame. A single GPS antenna is also housed in the RF window on top. Just like the iPad Wi-Fi, there are two antennas that handle Wi-Fi / Bluetooth connectivity, one in the Apple logo and another to the left of the dock connector.

• Apple looks to be using the entire LCD frame as an antenna!

• Apple uses the same 3G baseband processor in both the iPhone 3GS and the iPad 3G.

• The baseband processor in question is the Infineon 337S3754 PMB 8878 X-Gold IC. It was actually white-labeled on the production unit, but with enough sleuthing we were able to confirm its true identity.

• The iPad 3G has a Broadcom BCM4750UBG Single-Chip AGPS Solution, whereas the iPhone 3GS uses an Infineon Hammerhead II package. Big win for Broadcom!

With rumors still very high that Verizon would get iPhone 4G in the June. Apple is expected release its shiny new version of iPhone which may be called either iPhone 4G or iPhone HD or may be iPhone 4G HD.

he question is why in the context of price, Apple would stay away from CDMA Phone for Verizon.

If Apple releases the iPhone for Verizon, it would most probably have to match the price with the iPhone on AT&T. The components which builds the GSM based iPhone are cheaper than the components to be used to develop CDMA based iPhone. If Apple would release the iPhone for Verizon and keeps the same price then it would give Apple some lost in its revenue.

Full 3.1.3 unlock now available

Apple in February released firmware 3.1.3, which offered no new features but which did close the method through which the previous unlock was injected. Our next software unlock won’t be coming out until version 4.0. The reason? If we ’showed our hand’ to Apple and revealed to them the exploit we will be using then they will simply close it. So an unlock at version 3.1.3 means a long wait for an unlock at version 4. We figured version 4 will be such a big important update (multitasking for 3rd party apps etc) that our customers would rather have immediate access to that, hence the decision was made.

However, many of our NEW customers who didn’t know not to update their unlocked iPhones had already upgraded their iPhones unwittingly and locked themselves out. And new iPhones are already coming out at version 3.1.3. As a result we have had to find a new method. iPad Imports Banned In Israel - Ipad ban

Israel has banned imports of Apple Inc.'s hottest new product, the iPad, citing concerns the powerful gadget's wireless signals could disrupt other devices.
Customs officials said Thursday they have already confiscated about 10 of the lightweight tablet computers since Israel announced the new regulations this week. The ban prevents anyone - even tourists - from bringing iPads into Israel until officials certify that they comply with local transmitter standards.
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission allows devices with Wi-Fi capability to broadcast at higher power levels than are allowed in Europe and Israel - meaning that the iPad's stronger signal could throw off others' wireless connections, Schubert said.
"If you operate equipment in a frequency band which is different from the others that operate on that frequency band, then there will be interference," said Nati Schubert, a senior deputy director for the Communications Ministry. "We don't care where people buy their equipment. ... But without regulation, you would have chaos."
Some Israelis successfully got the popular devices into Israel before the ban.
Amnon, a software developer who legally brought an iPad into Israel but asked that his last name be withheld to avoid potential government repercussions, said he and other high-tech businessmen need the iPad to develop new applications for the device.
"There are several hundred people in Israel who make their livelihood developing apps ... and there are going to be companies that suffer, because they can't deliver the services they're supposed to be delivering," he said.

iPhone 3.1 Out, Don’t Let it Re-Lock your Unlocked iPhone

Apple released an update to the iPhone OS today. The 3.1 iPhone update brings lots of little improvements. Don’t let iTunes tempt you with them if you have an unlocked iPhone. The new firmware will upgrade your baseband firmware, relocking your iPhone and, potentially, making it impossible to unlock again.

The good news is that your iPhone can still have that 3.1 iPhonee goodness and your unlocked iPhone. You just need to trust in the iPhone Dev team, because their tools provide a way to install the update without updating the baseband and breaking the unlock.

If you update to Apple’s new software using the normal iTunes process, you will lose your ultrasn0w unlock. In fact you may lose it permanently, because for most people the baseband firmware cannot be reverted to a previous version (unlike the main application CPU firmware).
